What materials did you use? Cotton fabric, black shirt, cushion filler

What are you most proud of? How my little 'attic windows' turned out :) That I was able to work out the size of the blocks to make it smaller for a cushion and learn how to do mitered seams.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time choosing fabrics for this block, it is a good way to learn about tone on tone prints and co-ordinating colour. I used a black shirt of my husbands, which he had never worn (actually not even out of the wrapper), for the back of the cushion... saves having to make buttonholes and sew buttons on :) I think this block pattern is more suited to a quilt than a cushion, as it looses some of the pattern when filled with the cushion filler or maybe just make a larger cushion, mine was 16.5".

Thanks Tanya, I love the 3D effect of the windows, it's going to look so good on my new black suite, well hopefully, when I get it;)

Very cool - Hubby should definitely pop for that leather suite! I really like the shirt back. Think I'll just have to use this for future pillow making. What an easy neat idea!

Thanks Jean, and here's hoping a shopping trip will be soon:) I am onto my second cushion now!

I hope he gets the hint, as those would be gorgeous on black leather!

Desna, you clever devil you. Love the shirt idea and the flowers are gorgeous. You should be proud!!!

Thank you:) I was being super thrifty on this one as the fabric with the red and yellow flowers was a dress that my daughter was going to givie to the charity shop, but I got there first:) I have now looked out some other fully cottong items that will be in further projects:)

I am going to try it as a quilt..I love it!!!! I have so many fabrics that would be gorgeous with that pattern!

Thanks Lisa and I would reccommend this pattern for a larger quilt as I feel my little attic windows got kinda lost when stuffed with the pillow form. Cant wait to see yours:)
