Materials

Lizbeth thread which I hand dyed, black Swarovski crystals, black chain.

What was your inspiration?

Retro atom designs.

What are you most proud of?

It actually is recognizable as an atom (it's the element Lithium).

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a tricky design to tat, but fun for experienced tatters. The techniques that I used are covered in my Craftsy Shuttle Tatting course. The only thing really different about this design is that 6 shuttles are used.

I have such trouble with shuttle tatting! You do such a beautiful job. I just love this atom design and the color you did it in!

Well, shuttle tatting gets easier over time, but this atom design still gives me some trouble, too. I figure the results are worth it :)

Thanks! I've found out that working with many shuttles is easier if I wind the thread right up to the shuttle when it's not in use. That way the thread can't tangle.
