Fun to knit and full of chunky texture!

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Classic, Casual, Outdoorsy

Materials

106 yards super bulky yarn (one skein Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick), size 19 US knitting needles, two 1.25-1.75" buttons, sewing needle and thread

What was your inspiration?

Autumn is my hands down favorite season - I spend my Summers longing for my big chunky scarves, cowls and sweaters! Asterisque (the texture reminds me of stars or asterisks) is inspired by Autumn: chunky, cozy, rustic, and fun to wear.

What are you most proud of?

I'm happy that Asterisque stands out amongst the many chunky, oversized cowl knitting patterns. Once you learn the stitch pattern, it's a very easy and quick knit, but with great impact, rich in texture and style.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be afraid of BIG knitting needles. Size 19 US needles really are the definitive size to use with Asterisque, which can be a little intimidating to those not used to working with that size. My advice: use the most lightweight wood you can find (bamboo is great!).
