I used two top-down sweater patterns and motifs from the Ashton Shawlette for the sweaters. The baby shawl was created by doubling the triangular Ashton Shawlette to create a square. I began on double pointed needles then went to a circular needle.

What was your inspiration?
A special friend asked if I could make a shawl for her first great grandchild. With some expert advice, the baby shawl was born. And what is a baby shawl without a sweater to match. This sweater pattern is now my favorite. Thank You Dee O'Keefe for such a versatile shawl design.
What are you most proud of?
That the plan came together so well. I had never "killed" acrylic yarn before and was fascinated with the way the process made the shawl stay in the square shape as well as made it so much softer.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Find nerves of steel. Getting that shawl started took lots of patience. My heart was in my mouth the whole time I was "killing" the shawl... for fear that I would accidentally touch the yarn with the iron.
