This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Jeweled Wedding Cake »

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Other

Style: Retro / Vintage, Formal / Bridal

Materials

I used isomalt to make the black edible jewels. The ruffles were made with gumpaste and edged in silver edible paint. The pearls were made with a mold.

What was your inspiration?

I love Art Deco jewelry.

What are you most proud of?

I love how the edible jewels look so real in person :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be careful with hot isomalt! That was the most time consuming part of this project.

Thank you, Marina! I saw your ruffles on another cake and HAD to try it for myself but couldn't figure out how to do them. So I signed up for the course on the night I was making the cake and voila! You helped me create it so thank you!!
