Making the clock: do steps 1-3 ahead of time to ensure enough drying time. 1) Roll out gumpaste then cut out the shape of an 8" heart. Make an appropriate size whole in the center where the clock movement will need to fit through. 2) Using royal icing, make a lot of roses in different sizes and shades. 3) Using gumpaste, cut out the numbers for the face of the clock.
When everything is thoroughly dry, insert the clock movement through the center hole of the heart and secure Place the numbers on the face of the clock then paste with royal icing. Arrange the roses around the clock then secure with royal icing. Add leaves to fill in spaces. Make pearl strands out of gumpaste and attach to the outer edge of clock using royal icing. ( I used luster dusts to add even more dimension to the roses and pearls)
Make the desired size cakes. (I used 12" x 6") I cut the 6" cake on an angle so the clock would be tilted instead of lying totally flat. Cover the cakes with fondant and create the quilted pattern. Attach edible pearls. Wrap the battery pack of the clock movement in plastic wrap, then cut an appropriate sized hole in the 6" cake for the battery pack to fit. Set the clock on the cake,...it should fit flush on the surface...if not, adjust the size of the hole in the cake. (this will also keep it from sliding off). Make additional pearl strands for borders. Enjoy :)Making the clock: do steps 1-3 ahead of time to ensure enough drying time. 1) Roll out gumpaste then cut out the shape of an 8" heart. You have aamazing talent, I would love to do cake icing but think I best stick to the quilting and beading etc. I so love what you have made, they are all just beautiful, so perfect a job.
