What was your inspiration?
I had so much fun with the March silhouettes of children and pets at play that I made a pair of mug rugs for April, to go along with the March pair. I have been enjoying this so much! I haven't done much drawing since I retired from teaching. I've been busy with so many other things, but with these little sketches I suddenly realized that I've really missed playing with pencils and paper.
What are you most proud of?
I really like the embroidery this time. I think the ripples in the puddles and the splashes made by the children turned out nicely. Most of all, I like the shoelaces on the boy's shoes. Such a tiny little detail, but I do love those finishing touches.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is loads of fun - quick to make and a great way to use up some of those scraps. Just play.
