What was your inspiration?

I really am liking this little house of the month project. The month is April and I plopped Easter right into it although it actually falls in March this year.

I'm afraid that I really got carried away with detail on this project! I simply couldn't stop adding little things - decorative stitching and ribbon on the roof, three piece tulips, fringed daffodils, hidden Easter eggs. On and on. (My husband went searching, but couldn't find one of the eggs. It's blue and barely peeks through the leaves by the daffodils.)

I'm wondering if I should make the houses larger so that the pieces won't be quite so tiny. I could turn the next houses into placemats, I suppose. Any suggestions?

What are you most proud of?

I love adding tiny little details. My family and friends accuse me (sweetly, of course) of being too much of a fuss budget, but that's the way I am. Now if I could just get that hand applique figured out!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient with the details. It takes a bit of effort, but the end results are so worth it.

This is absolutely adorable. Congratulations on such a fantastic job. Did you only make the one or a set?

I've made two, this one and the March House mug rug. They were a blast, but there is so much detail on such a tiny scale. I'm thinking of trying for something simpler later on - maybe place mat size?

If I had this jem I would tie a ribbon to it and hang it on a cupboard door handle that didn't get used often or something of that sort for a splash of cuteness. I have a special oven mitt that is hanging up in the kitchen and everyone knows it is off limits, it is just for show!

Oh, my! You are making me laugh out loud. I'm thrilled that you like my little "house"! And, no, I'm not putting it out to get coffee spilled on it - not yet, anyway.

Oh so cute I had to scroll back to see it close up! If you have it out for display to use for a mug, make sure it gets flipped over before anyone actually puts a mug on it. Same with if you made placemats, they get flipped over when actually in use. I actually am feeling pain to think someone would put their mug down on the front! Beautiful creativity.

Absolutely enchanting! You can't be serious in letting somebody stand a mug on this, can you? After all that beautiful work? Far too beautiful!

Oh, thank you! The idea of actually using it does make me a bit nervous. As it stands, I'm not sure if I'll use it or not. But then, what good would it be? Oh, decisions, decision. lol
