What materials did you use? Steam-A-Seam 2

What are you most proud of? I'm glad I didn't skip April's blocks just because I have no time... It's better to improvise than to be left out! Felt really weird putting the pretty side of the fabric down, and using the wrong-side-up for the hexes on that first block -- but I needed to do that to get a satisfying contrast between the floral and my hexagons... :) Oh! I also chose to make my stripe of "grass" (in my case, water)...a half-inch wider than the directions.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Steam-A-Seam2 is the best thing since sliced bread. "Where there is fear, there is no creativity!" ...So don't be afraid to use the wrong side of your fabrics sometimes...

Both of your blocks are so beautiful and creative!! You picked the perfect fabric for the sun (and the water)! I would never have thought to flip the fabric around to the wrong side for contrast. They both get 10's in my book! :D

Awww, thank you mo.sews! I felt a bit like a cheater not doing everything by the directions...but I just don't have that kind of time right now with the resort getting busy and fishing tournaments going on, etc. :)

Hey, you DO know that there is no time limit on this right??? The BOM is here for you when you want it, or when you have time. That's a big selling point for me!

Hahaha...I suppose there is no time limit really -- since they are on video and available on-demand. But still...I'd rather not lapse and get behind on months. The next 4 months will be a challenge for me, and then things will slow down again.

Oh! and the sky fabric! That is brilliant too! :D

Thank you! ...just a striped batik that begged to be used. Hahaha!

I love the idea of a sunset over water!

Thanks MindyM! I own Mockingbird Bay Resort which is on Norfork Lake in Arkansas, so it just seemed logical! Haha! :)

The warm color selections for the sunset is amazing. I movement that you feel of the ocean, as the sun is setting. You did a fantastic job for the block of the month.

Thanks Betty! The fishing is great! ...Cabin 2 guys have been super-happy for the last 2 days -- catching between 15 pound and 20 pound stripers. :)
