April BOM #2

Hexi Garden

Hexi Garden

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional

Materials

Leftover scraps of cotton fabric

What was your inspiration?

The Craftsy BOM 2012 course.

What are you most proud of?

I wanted to do something of my own on this block but I'm afraid I wasn't very original. The ground part of the picture is a carpet of violets (!) and I rather enjoyed making the two flowers and making the stems from fabric cut on the cross so that it bends. The leaves are another hexagon, cut in half.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Let your imagination run wild - there are lots and lots of really clever ideas posted by other participants in the course.

Thank you, Tanya. You wouldn't say that if you saw the one I made this morning - I've unpicked it and consigned most of it to the scrap bag! I'll try it again tomorrow!

Yes, we all do that now and then don't we? And some of us more than others. You are very talented, I love your work.

Oh, you did make me laugh! A triffid indeed! Didn't they have three legs? I'll have to add something!

It's funny, but I started rather half-heartedly and the project has gained momentum as I've gone on - although I completed the first 10 blocks in only a week. My attention span isn't great, so I hope I shall get to the end okay!
