Annealed Steel and Gemstone Set

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Jewelry

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Funky

Materials

Annealed steel wire, gemstones, lampwork beads, glass beads, sterling earwire, spacer beads, metal beads.

What was your inspiration?

A necklace in a book called "wired beautiful" by Heidi Boyd. This lady really does some great things with wirewrapping and making coils and twists. I love working in wire and decided to add my own touches by using not ony lampwork beads but some of my favorite gemstones.

I used watermelon tourmaline, rhodonite, morganite and green turquoise. I am crazy about exotic gemstones and try to use them heavily in my work.

What are you most proud of?

Working with annealed steal is more difficult that working with silver or copper wire. It took some getting used to. Handforming links and making my own jumprings adds to the personality of the piece and I'm learning new things every day.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient. This necklace and earring set took me 2.5 days to complete. I worked constantly with wire and made some mistakes which had to be redone. I am, however, quite happy with the outcome and will do more with this medium. Feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
