Animal Baby Quilts

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Cute

Materials

Flannel fabric and batting

What was your inspiration?

I love to see home made things at baby showers and when I saw this pattern I wanted to try it. I have made about a dozen now for friends and relatives. I take into consideration the new baby and the family and buy fabric accordingly. After the first one was made, and people oohed and ahhed, that inspired me to want to make more for others.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of the fact that the children use them and enjoy them.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just have fun buying cute fabrics that represent the families and enjoy seeing their faces.

Just found this wonderful site and started to look through the quilt pictures. I just finished up a similar quilt for my new grandson. It was a simplicity pattern that I had for about 7-8 years never having anyone to make it for. So now I did have somebody. Made it in flannel various shades of blue and white, a dog with big brown ears. Called him Bleu and called the quilt cuddlin with Bleu. I have already beenasked to do more of the same. Was fun and fairly easy to do .Lov e rag quilting and hope to do more of it. Didn;t check but I think it is the same patttern you used.

Can you tell me how big this is and about how much total yardage it takes?

I am 5"8" and if I hold it up in the air, it goes to the floor. As for yardage, I don't calculate. I just use the pattern which is Simplicity #4993.

I'm working on this quilt for my niece's baby, due in December. Thanks for posting your photos so that I can see how different fabrics work together on the quilts. Fabric selection is always the hardest part of any project for me!
