An Everyday Purse

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Materials

Exterior: Navy Duck Cloth (quilted using free motion stitching) Exterior: Printed Kitty Fabric (quilted using free motion stitching) 14 inch zipper Interior: Printed cotton fabric

What was your inspiration?

A experiment to combine different fabrics (a print and a solid).

What are you most proud of?

I'm proud of accidently sewing the purse inside out and not being tempted to take it all apart and fix it. Actually I like it screwed up. It shows off two fabric combinations as planned. But I was going to have the pockets to be inside instead of outside.

You know what? I kind of like the little pockets on the outside.

I'll keep this one for my everyday purse. I don't use purses like suitcases--so I don't need an overly large purse. I like the long straps--to just throw it over my shoulder, or knot it and carry it by hand.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't worry if you make a mistake. Oh gee, I've been sewing for 50 years and I continue to make simple mistakes here and there. Sometimes the mistakes look pretty good.
