Instructions

A functional, versatile wrap that can be worn in different ways to achieve maximum warmth while keeping your style fresh, elegant and cool. Lightweight with lot’s of drape. Contains a border texture(not moss stitch!) to keep it interesting, but easy enough to keep it zen.
Add buttons to create sleeves.

A great evening, or on the bus project.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Classic, Traditional, Romantic, Casual

Materials

US 13 - 9.0 mm 480 yards (439 m) of heavy worsted or light bulky weight yarn

What was your inspiration?

I love shawls, but I typically don't love their construction or the time that goes into making them. I also love straight lines.
I wanted to create a wrap that was large enough to provide a lot of coverage, without being so long that I was forever flipping it around me. I chose big needles and slightly heavy yarn that I knew would achieve almost instant satisfaction as well as an elegant drape.
Once the wrap was completed I added buttons at the wrists as another means to keep it on while I run around during the day.

What are you most proud of?

I love the versatility of this project. So many looks with just one item and all of them really truly keep me warm and cute at the same time.
I used Cascade Ecological wool, which also made this a 1 skein, very affordable project.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is such an easy project to make. There is a fun pattern that runs along the border that resembles snowflakes. If you can knit and you can purl, you can make this project.

This gives me a great idea for what to do with a stole I made (it was supposed to be a jacket/sweater but I gave up and finished it early). I think I'll try making a sleeve on it by putting temporary ties or buttons so it can be undone. I'll see what happens, and thanks for the inspiration., Your stuff is gorgeous, by the way. I'm not a knitter but a crocheter. However, I may give it a go one fine day.
