Amo Te Wedding Cake

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Cakes are covered in sugarpaste and most of the detail is piped in Royal Icing. This is a dummy for a wedding show, but I would love to have the real cake royal iced as well for a truly vintage look and taste. heart is created by using a Springerly Mold/Mould sold by House on The Hill.

What was your inspiration?

Lambeth Method!

I LOVE traditional looking, vintage cakes. Wanted to practise my piping techniques, so chose a different border style for each tier and piped away. More practise needed, but liked the outcome nevertheless.

What are you most proud of?

Practise makes perfect. I'm no way near perfect, but better than the time before.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Ceri Griffiths has released a couple of good books on borders. I also invested a small fortune on Joseph Lambeth's book, I wouldn't recommend this personally unless you're obsessed with Royal Icing and determined to master this.

So what is the name of the books you feel are must haves for the new cake decorators? All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. Your work looks great!

Very beautiful, very formal wedding cake. You're right about it being vintage looking. When I was growing up it seemed that all wedding cakes were all white and tiered like this one. Gorgeous. Once again.

Thank you. Whilst I think we should move orward with all craft forms I also believe we should protect its heritage as well. Royal Icing class on Crasy, please!!
