What was your inspiration?
One of the 2nd graders that I teach knitting to wanted to knit her American Doll a dress. I came up with this easy pattern for her and of course, as soon as I had shown it to the class, my own daughter immediately claimed it as her own!
What are you most proud of?
Teaching knitting to children has been a long-time goal of mine. I am proud that (with a lot of support from my husband and friends) that I took the plunge and started offering classes. One of the challenges was finding easy patterns. I teach to 2nd through 5th graders and most of them do not have the staying power to knit an entire scarf so I had to come up with some patterns of my own. This is one of them and I am amazed that it worked!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you are thinking of teaching knitting to a child, this is a perfect second project.
