Amelie For 18
»
Instructions
Amelie is an open-front shawl collar cardigan with twisted rib details, including a Seven Sisters cable down the center back. The collar can be worn up or rolled down. Its pieces are knit flat and feature an interesting (but not difficult) construction. The fronts are made of one long piece that's draped up and around the neck. The back is knit top-down by picking up stitches along the back neck of that piece. A background of reverse stockinette stitch offsets the twisted stitches. Slip stitches form a neat edge on fronts, sleeve cuffs and sweater bottom. Pattern includes schematics with measurements for all pieces.
Designed to fit the 18 inch American Girl or similar dolls with an 11 inch chest circumference.
The difficulty level of this pattern is: Intermediate - requires a knowledge of basic knitting skills, making twisted stitches by knitting (and purling) into the back loop, slipping stitches, increasing, decreasing, cables, casting on sts at the beginning/end of a row using backwards loop CO, seaming and picking up stitches.Amelie is an open-front shawl collar cardigan with twisted rib details, including a Seven Sisters cable down the center back. I love this sweater I knit sweaters, vests and other things for the American Girl doll. I would really love this. The girls all have these dolls so I make them clothes for the holiday, birthday. They really enjoy them because they are a one of a kind. Hard to find these patterns.
I think it's great that you take the time to make doll clothes for the girls in your life. When I was growing up my grandma always made clothes for my dolls and I absolutely loved them! I was always in awe that she was capable of creating such beautiful pieces of miniature clothing and it really added to the enjoyment I got from playing with my dolls. Now I get to do the same for my daughter. I'm not sure who has more fun with them - her getting to play with them, or me getting to create them. =)
