How difficult is it to bind the edges of a piece like this? I've only done a few quilts now, but I like how this isn't just 4 straight edges.

I just fell in love all over again. This is brilliant, just give me an excuse to gather 42 best loved fabrics. I love the feel of my grandmothers quilt with a very up to date spin on it you have achieved here. Despite reading several times I did not get your piecing technique. I really would like to learn this unique method.

Half Hexagons are a great way to machine piece hexagons. Aneel Hoey goes over teh method of piecing in a series of blog posts here: http://comfortstitching.typepad.co.uk/comfortstitching/2009/05/frilly-pillowtalk-and-half-hexagon-quiltalong-part-one.html:

Beautiful quilt. What size is this? Twin, full, queen?

110 inches square would make a 12 - 15 inch drop on the sides of a queen (60 x 80).
