Instructions

This was view C of the pattern. The tiny picture on the package doesn't do it justice. I think it's a lovely design.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Retro / Vintage

Materials

Everything was from my stash, including the sparkly rick rack and turquoise bias tape. I even had the correct colors of thread.

What was your inspiration?

I am making all of my children a sewn present this year. Most of the materials are coming from my stash and everything has to be personal and useful. This daughter loves to cook and also appreciates vintage styles. One of her favorite colors is teal. I figured turquoise was close enough.

What are you most proud of?

That everything, including the pattern, was already in my sewing room. I just had to look around and see what would work. I find that to be one of the best parts, shopping the stash.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be aware that this apron is very fiddly. Much more involved than the 2 fleece hoodies I'm making for my younger girls. Also, I think the pattern markings (dots) are off. Make sure you are going to have 5/8 inch seams. left after attaching things. You'll know what I mean once you get into it. Don't trust those dots. ;-)

That said, I absolutely enjoyed the heck out of sewing this. I like fiddly.
