What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a fairly simple pattern to follow. Since I was knitting them for charity, exact size was not an issue. Every hat will find a home and fit someone. I had read that others found the hat ran a little small, so I cast on 80 stitches, although the pattern includes casting on 70 stitches.

I meant "free" patterns, not fee. Best place ever for all patterns, many free, some paid. Many supportive knitters at http://www.ravelry.com Totally free to sign up. I have no affiliation, just a long time mlember. There are currently over 4 million members and if you are on Craftsy, it seems a little surprising that you may not know of Ravelry. Come join!
