Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Traditional

Materials

I used fabric from Jo-Ann's, some leftover fabric from the curtains in her room and also some scraps, mostly the lighter colors, of other quilts that I had made.

What was your inspiration?

Ali, my grand-daughter, found a picture of a quilt she liked with triangles. I added the 4 patches of smaller triangles to make it more interesting.

What are you most proud of?

Ali wanted a piano key border which she had seen on another quilt that I had made. I wasn't sure how that would look on this quilt but was very pleased with the result.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be sure to sew the piano key border to a strip of muslin or other material to keep it from stretching as you sew it to the quilt.

This is a very fun quilt. I like the result of using a variety of different sized triangles.

Thank you. I am sorry I didn't have a pattern to share. My grand-daughter found a picture similar to it and I added the smaller triangles to it but I didn't have an actual pattern to work from. My daughter helped Ali pick out the pretty fabric colors. The piano key border pattern can be found on the internet for those who would like to copy that. I'm glad you liked it...Ali did as well.

I am a scrappy quilter...I use anything and everything in my quilts. The curtain fabric is the darkest of the green triangles. I always wash fabric before starting to be sure it won't bleen and then I go for it. I was on my 4th quilt before I had to buy any fabric...just used outgrown and handmedown clothes and other material.
