This cowl worked in Super Bulky Yarn works up in an hour! Make a pair of matching fingerless mittens using my free pattern and you have a precious pair. This cowl uses only single crochet stitches and requires only basic crochet skills.
I am using super bulky yarn in a crochet pattern for the first time and really enjoyed it. I used Wool Ease yarn from Lion Brand. They come in a range of lovely colors. If you are looking for a cheaper option, Michaels in house brand would be a good substitute. The gorgeous wooden buttons were bought from JoAnn Fabrics and makes the perfect accent. The bigger the button, the better!
When I made my first try of this pattern, the buttons were just for embellishment and were not used for closure. Then I thought it might mess up your hair when you pull it down your neck and thought of making the buttons functional. The crochet pattern uses a braid made with four strips.
