What was your inspiration?

My mom, my daughter and I had a blast creating the details for my niece's Alice In Wonderland birthday cake! Credit goes to my mom for the adorable, gumpaste, miniature layer cake and tea cups and saucers; as well as the beautiful decorations on the table and throughout the house. My daughter's handiwork can be seen in the mini cupcakes (with matching lifesize cupcakes), mini tablecloth and mini cake.

What are you most proud of?

The total outcome. My niece loved it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Let your imagination run wild! Include people you love. It makes everything so much more fun!

This is an awesome cake. You did a great job. Its wonderful that your mom & daughter were able to help you out. I have a grandson who is 4 that I'm trying to get interested in helping me but he's still more into licking the icing bowl & eating the final product than helping :o} He does like using the cookie cutters so that's a start.

Thank you so much! We had a lot of fun with it. My mom is an amazing decorator...what you can't see is that the table was covered with a blue table cloth with a white "apron" to represent alice's dress. There was also a grass table runner to give the garden feel. We put a special cupcake in a large apothecary jar labeled "eat me". We got lost in the details! :) Thank you for your kind comments!

I did make the legs! Thank you! They are made of fondant. I really love to sculpt the human form; there is such a beautiful flow to it. It is fun to make things for people you know! Besides having a feel for what they would like, it helps me to relax when it is a personal cake. The pressure of making something "good enough" is gone. :) Thank you for your kind coment :)
