Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Creative Quilt Backs »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Boys

Style: Traditional, Casual

Materials

"Animal Spirits" fabric by Robert Kaufman, various other cotton prints.

What was your inspiration?

The Robert Kaufman fabric was my inspiration for the project in general, but the Creative Quilt Backs class is what got me thinking about making a more interesting backing for this quilt.

What are you most proud of?

Figuring out the math to piece it all together to come out with the proper size backing. Now, if I actually manage to get the gold strips to be relatively straight lines after I put this together and quilt it, I will be ecstatic!

Nice work, and good choice for something Aiden will enjoy now and for years and years to come.

I know your great-nephew will love this--who wouldn't? It's always a nice surprise to turn over a quilt and find something extra on the back.

Holding straight line thoughts for you! Will you quilt this yourself? Being creative with the back really adds interest.

This is for my seven year old great-nephew, Aiden. I wanted to make something that wouldn't be too childish, that he could continue to appreciate into adulthood.

Oh, I just re-read your comment. I originally thought you asked if this quilt was FOR myself. Yes, I will quilt it myself, but I only plan to do straight lines in the ditches.
