What was your inspiration?
A very close friend from high school (in Tanzania) was having Baby #2 and I wanted to make something special for her. I had just returned from a trip home and had a new stash of fabrics to work with. Perfect timing!
What are you most proud of?
I like how it all came together even though I was just making it up as I went along (as with most things I make!). The orange solid seemed a little too crazy but I kept it and I think it brightens up the whole quilt very nicely. I'm so glad I had a few solid pieces custom dyed! The colours work perfectly with the other fabrics in the set and I don't have to get a zillion swatches of Kona to try to match it!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
It's just a basic snowball block that finishes around 8". The corner blocks in the border came about because I had a bunch of HSTs leftover from making the snowballs so I just ironed them, trimmed them up and used them up!
