Pattern Info
African dolls (or African Queens)
Instructions
Since this pattern was passed to my quilt group without the author's name, I am not sure if I can publish it on any website.Difficulty:
Category: Quilting
Type of item: Home Decor
For: Women
Style: Cute
Materials
15 fat eights of various colors for the dresses, 2 yards background fabric, and 1/2 yard total for skin tone (I choose to use 3 different skin tone colors), a pattern by an unknown author which has been passed around between a few quilt groups, the amount of fabric for the back will be determined when I am ready to quilt it
What was your inspiration?
I saw quilts made, using this pattern, by quilters in another quilt group. The making of figures (the queens/dolls) instead of various traditional block shapes was visually appealing as well as creatively appealing.
What are you most proud of?
My continous grown with piecing over the past year.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
When a quilt pattern captures your interest, take a moment to study the pattern. What initally appears to be a complicated pattern might turn out to be a creative way of combining the squares and triangles that you are already familar with using.
