INSTRUCTIONS - Welcome to the exciting, colorful and creative world of African Folklore Embroidery. We give you a picture of the completed design as a guide only. We encourage you to feel free to be creative, do your own stitches, and use different colors and mediums and to make the project your own. • The beauty of African Folklore Embroidery lies in its simplicity and individuality. • You do not need to use a hoop. • Similar to crewelwork your entire design can be done in chain stitch. • Adding satin stitch, French Knots, beads, fabric and variegated threads makes it even more fun. • Begin where ever you wish to start. Guidelines To Getting Started Chain Stitch: Thread your needle with a single thread and tie a knot at the end of the thread. Bring the needle out at the position for the first stitch. Loop thread and hold it down with your thumb. Insert the needle where it first emerged, and bring the tip out a short distance below this point. Keep the thread under the tip of the needle and pull the needle through. To make the next stitch, insert the needles into the previous stitch and continue with the chain stitch Can use any colors to stitch.
