What materials did you use? Medium weight organic cotton from Alabama Chanin in light pink and natural. I switched the beads that came with the kit (white) for light pink so they would show up a bit more. This was a DIY kit found here: http://alabamachanin.com/diy-check-skirt

What are you most proud of? I love the color choice. I decided not to cut out or embroider the squares as with the original since I wanted more of the pink to show.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's a great project that's super portable to take with you on the go. I like the low contrast but I am also considering doing a red or blue with the natural for a higher contrast look. The white stencil paint on the pink was hard to see in low light.

This skirt is lovely. I have been thinking about getting this stencil - it looks very nice and a change from florals.
