Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. This is transparent watercolor. My palette is very limited, primarily only three major colors and about three others. The painting is already sold, but I do have open edition prints that are available.

Is the piece for sale? No

What a beautiful painting !!! May I ask, how you create the blurry effect of the background? I am learning and so far I've tried transparent colors and lifting it off with paper towel.. but it just doesn't look right. Do you have an advice ? Thank you for sharing your art !!!

Thank you. You are very kind. The background is fairly easy to do. First I did several washes of Gamboge, which is an Indian yellow, letting each wash dry completely before adding another. Then I started putting in the greens, which were mixtures of some blues, yellows and tube greens, making some areas darker than others and just making it up as I went along. After I had the greens almost as dark as I wanted, I took a synthetic, square tipped brush, damped it and began scrubbing out the green in circles down to the yellow, varying the size and depth to make the background look like out of focus greenery. While those spots were still wet, I added a lemon yellow is places, then went back and darkened some of my greens in selected spots. I hope this helps you and gives you something fun to try. Just have fun! Happy painting. Sue
