What was your inspiration?

I really wanted a dress that it didn't look like I made. I saw this pattern years ago and fell in love. I was too intimidated to knit it at the time. Fast forward to five years later, I came across the pattern in my studio and the perfect yarn had arrived from Germany just days before. I was going on a trip where I needed a lot of knitting to pass the time and this was just the thing.

What are you most proud of?

I had to gauge swatch 6 times to get the gauge right -- and drop two needle sizes to a ONE! I am most proud of the way the dress fits. It's perfect.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't be intimidated. It was a really fun project. The ribbing is easier, the lace a bit harder. It was great to try as you go since it is a top down knit. I knit the sleeves in magic loop, two at a time to make sure they matched - and I adjusted the dress as I went a long. Now I want to wear it every day...

A really beautiful piece of work by Cassie Rovitti. I am still trying to knit this, but also struggled with the gauge for two hours last night. The 2x1 rib gauge is a bit tedious to knit, especially when I had to start all over again and it was still not right. My eyes were straining with the thin needles. The yarn I'm using is called "Soul" from African Expressions. I'm not a fast knitter, so perserverence and patience are needed with this gauge. I'll try the 2mm needles tonight.
