What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be prepared to change needle sizes on some blocks. So far, I'm working Log 1 on US9s; the other sections on US10s.

I'm making the largest version of this afghan, the 25" x 75" version on the Lion Brand website (L10347), using the colors specified in that pattern. This is going to be a wedding present for my nephew and his wife, who are getting married June 28. I went up two needle sizes to get gauge, I'm being careful to knit the number of rows I should get at gauge, rather than relying on inexact measurements of fabric that might be stretched more some times than at other times. But if I'm supposed to get 6 rows per inch over 4 inches, I make sure I've got 24 rows. I think this is my best chance of avoiding the erratic gauge that occurs when so many different stitch patterns need to exist together.

Oops! 50" x 75"--more or less.

Use the video and instructions for left and right twists on New Stitch A Day: this is different from what the pattern gives and a little different than the class, but the instructions on New Stitch are precise, the video is clear, and the results are a sharper pattern than you'll get following the written pattern.

this is correct and I have asked LB to fix the pattern. This is why I have chossen to direct students to A New Stitch a Day
