What materials did you use? All Cotton. Fabric on the top is by Kate Spain. The back is a fabric I picked up somewhere else but it matched perfectly and still carried theme.

What are you most proud of? That my friend has the courage to face cancer head on and not let it take her. This quilt only has a few pieces of "pink ribbon" fabric because I didn't want it to be all about cancer. It needed to be more about life and hope and futures.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is not a difficult piece so go for it. Just make sure you lay out the pieces to get proper placement and be sure to sew the rows so they line up properly. I sewed the blocks end to end and then put together the rows. The only difficulty in this piece is the work I did on the long arm. The actual freehand stitching is an easier design if you know how to work the long arm.

This is a beautiful quilt. It inspired me so that I'm going to follow this to make my son a quilt. This will be my second quilt. I hope I can do it.

You can stitch in the ditch or on the diagonal if all you have is a regular machine. It will still look good and come out fine. Look up the Amy Butler pattern online if you need a reference. The pattern is a little different than mine because I put a binding on my quilt.

So simple and yet so beautiful! Love it!

Very nice! My brick template has various size options. What size did you cut these for this finished look? I used the bricks as a border for my 2012 BOM project.

This was made from a Layer Cake. I just cut it to 5x10. I added some extra blocks that had the pink ribbon for breast cancer to make it a survivor quilt.

Great use of a layer cake.
