What materials did you use? I used a cheater panel and did some simple piecing. My focus was on what I might quilt with this old machine of mine. It was purely experimental.

What are you most proud of? My goal was to work on doing some freehand quilting on my very old machine. I really wasn't sure what I would be doing. I started with the tree trunk, and then the sun. As I dealt with each element of the picture, the quilt evolved, rather organically. Sometimes it is very good to work in the moment and allow the idea to develop.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Follow the pattern but allow the fabric to inspire you. I used several different colors of thread on the front, including metallic. Do something you haven't done before.

This is so nice - and how fortunate that your aunt had the pleasure of it before she passed away. I'm sure she loved it.
