I love the design. I see you used a Layer cake but how did you cut them. It looks like maybe cut into 4 5" squares then, use one for center, cut 1 in 1/2, and cut another into 4 pcs. Is that correct? Would you call this a variation of a disappearing 9 patch or something else. I'm getting ready to cut into my next layer cake.

This quilt is a disappearing nine patch. I made sure that the center square was the same color (aqua) in all the nine patch units and I tried to keep similar colors in each section so that when I quartered the nine patch there would be continuity in the look. Because the nine patch was cut into quarters, it looks as if I cut the smaller pieces separately.
