Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Designing Modern Quilts »

Instructions

Have fun choosing colors and patch together.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Cute, Mod, Casual

Materials

Pure cotton fabrics and stuffing.

What was your inspiration?

As part of the course project. I liked the looks and I had fabrics with the suitable colors to start with.
Gave me the opportunity to practice with my free motion quilting skills, as well, since I did all over with the same pattern. It became an excellent training skills.

What are you most proud of?

How quick I had finished this project because I really liked the idea and how was coming together.
It looks very fresh and happy to me. I'd name this quilt "A Splash of Summer"

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just do it! It is fun and give you the opportunity to use all those scraps waiting in your baskets.
Thanks Weeks for all your teaching about colors and composition. I really appreciate your insights.

This is fabulous! I just completed a tumbler quilt myself, so I have a HUGE appreciation for what you did with all that little sashing in between your wedge/tumblers! It is just lovely, and great color combinations, too!

How gorgeous. You should be very proud of your work...it's great. I'm curious to know what you've learned from Weeks' course that is reflected in this quilt.

Hi, thanks for your commet. Learnt from Weeks that everything can spark a great idea for quilting. This simple design which "thimble" pattern I found as a class material and having a good look into my stash of small pieces of fabrics made me decide to start this quilt. She has one with identical pattern but with different results. She is a very original teacher taking her knowledge of graphic designer to enhance quilting to a higher level.

I have to mention as well that the back was inspired at the class of Elizabeth Hartman "Creative quilt back" it is a mini class (free) with great class. Thanks.

This was very inspiring to see your color combination- warm colors from different pallets but all very complimentary and the white in between kept it separate enough. You did an awesome job with the free quilting and the back is beautiful as well!

I love the back. On the front, I like the one print among solids. Well distributed.

I think you did a great job on your color palette! The gold/orange shades really make the rest of the pop. I also like how you took your 'stripe' and cut it horizontal and vertical. It reads different when you look at the overall design and adds extra interest. What a great idea!
