If you like to come, I might be able to help with a contact that invites artists like Jinny Beyer, Gloria Loughman, Helen Godden and Ricky Timms to give lessons here in Perth. Let me know, I'll see what I can do.

Thank you for the info on dye markers and the link. I'll see if I can find that brand here in Australia. I bought your book , so I can study it before I start. Have you ever been to Australia?

That is so beautiful..your Mom is so lucky. May I ask what kind of dye markers and crayons you use. Thank you, Cherine

I used Uchida/Marvy fabric dye markers - I can get them at Ben Franklin. My favorite is their Brush Marker. The crayons are just kids Crayola. I used them to intensify and highlight that palm plant behind the vase. If you want, find my Page on facebook. There is a tutorial with pictures that I posted where you can see how to highlight/shade with dye markers. Here is link - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Patchworks-that-Praise/175441039143621

Thank you... my Mom has gotten quite a few of my quilts over the years. When I make something I can't give up, it often ends up on my parent's walls. :)

I pieced this quilt on a tear-away foundation. Its made of finished 1 inch squares of lots of different fabrics. I used a bit of white tulle over the distant water and dye markers to shade the vase. Because I piece on a foundation working with small squares of fabric is just as easy as using bigger squares, so I'm not as fanatical as I might seem! LOL! The way I use a foundation is explained in my book Watercolor Landscape Quilts. *Insert Shameless Plug* It is on sale now because it is going out of print. (I'm selling it for $5.95 at my site).
