What materials did you use? A few more samples of scarves that I have been dyeing with the Procion MX techniques. Some are rayon and some are silks.

What are you most proud of? I love the play of the colors. Most of these scarves sold at an art fair recently. Great reviews from customers.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Make your sample squares and keep good notes. I'm working on putting together a booklet with all my sample notes and photos so I can refer back to them when I want to do something similar.

Do you create your own browns / greens etc.? Just wondering that if you make them do they split up more than a purchased color when you over dye with them? I have just started and have had some ugly issues! Love your work.

I do create my own browns. Usually I mix according to what color I do want to split out. So if I want blues as the split out I will mix my brown from blues and the opposite on the color wheel so that would be orange or a variation of that.

Love the colors! Bravo!

Thank you. That helps me to understand what is happening with the dyes.

It also depends on the fiber, silk reacts differently than cotton. Rayon reacts different than both cotton and silk. I did one set of samples, cotton, rayon and silk all in the same tray. Bthey each ame out differently. I'll try to post those photos soon.

Thank you. I have really enjoyed playing with colors and these dyes. I'm working on a new set of scarves to get them in the dye baths.
