Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Bag-Making Basics: Reversible Tote & Zipper Pouch »

Instructions

The first bag (green one) was made prior to watching all the lessons. The others were done according to instructions (so much easier!).
I used a decorative stitch to reinforce the handles and the top of the bag, and in some cases the pocket.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Eco-Friendly, Cute, Casual, Whimsical

Materials

Fabric and thread

What was your inspiration?

The instructor made this seem so simple that even I could do them.
One of the bags (TZA) is made of fabric purchased in Zanzibar. The remaining fabrics are just bits and pieces that sort of go together.
I have other fabrics purchased in Zanzibar that will become something soon, perhaps bags!

What are you most proud of?

The colours were matched really quite well, to my eye. They turned out! And I made them!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read the written instructions, then watch the lessons, or do the work along with the instructor. And leave 4 inches rather than 3 at the end - makes pulling the bag rightside out much easier!

I like how you have used a decorative stitch as the top stitch, it adds more interest to the bag.

Thank you! I like the fact it sort of secures the edges. And it's pretty.
