I did this using the quilt as you go method. I designed it myself with my brother and his wife in mind for their 50th Anniversary. The ships and the blue fabric with small anchors are representative of my brother who was a ship builder and had been in the Navy. the purples, pinks and creams are for his wife and represent the home. In the dark inner border I quilted with wavy lines in pink and blue to represent all 7 of their children. I did my own drawing of a masted ship and a light house which I machine quilted in the large blocks. This was only my 2nd large quilt.

Very impressive job - and such a meaningful quilt. I love to see new quilters jump in a start designing quilts that are just right for them. Excellent!

Thank you Ann, I loved making this one. Thank you so much for the Quilting Big Projects class. I could not have done this one without taking the class.
