What was your inspiration?

I found this fabulous 50s cowgirl blouse pattern at a vintage market for $5 a few weeks ago. Score!

What are you most proud of?

The pockets and the rodeo yoke detail work. Working with piping on delicate vintage fabric required a lot of patience - and a couple of glasses of wine.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'm sooo glad I made a muslin of this pattern first. The blouse from the pattern was HUGE and boxy - more like a short man's shirt than the close fitting rodeo shirt in the drawing on the envelope. I've noticed with patterns from 50s-60s that the drawings sometimes are more 'inspirational' than accurate. I ended up editing the body pieces to a much slimmer fit using another pattern from my stash as a template, and added a side bust dart for a more comfortable fit.
