Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Traditional

Materials

I used 100% cotton from Jo Anns for the top, shashing, border, and binding and a purchsed sheet of cotton/polyester for the backing. The batting is 80%cotton/20% polyester.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to create a class gift to be included in our school auction. The auction raises money for our elementary school and we are in great need of extra funds.

A personalized quilt seemed a great way to get all the kids involved and hopefully to attract more parents to bid.

The organizers have set the opening bid at $75 - I will share the final amount raised after the auction which is on March 3rd.

What are you most proud of?

I was very worried about making a quilt. This is my second quilt (the first one was made in a class) and I really wanted it to be special - something the students would be proud of and something the parents would want to bid on.

I think, even with some errors, that I have accomplished what I set out to accomplish and that feel great!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try not to be a perfectionist and just jump right in. This is something I always forget, but keep telling my kids. I need to follow my own advice more often because this was truly and enjoyable project.

This would be a great idea to do for a student teacher once they finish. I love it! I hope that the parents at the auction think so too! :)
