I used 100% cotton fabrics. It is paper pieced and I am selling the pattern here on Craftsy.
What was your inspiration?
A quilt in Fons & Porter's Best Seasonal Quilts book. It was a flat pieced quilt and I wanted to make it a dimensional paper-pieced quilt.
What are you most proud of?
That I stayed with it for three days and finally figured out how to make it work. I have made two of them and everyone who sees them really loves them.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't use the horizontal looking sky fabric, get a mottled all-over and let it just suggest sky. If you do use sky like I did, you will have to cut the pieces to each side of the boat at a 60 degree angle.
