I cover the cakeboard with fondant then airbrushed the gingham design using a template. I made the template by cutting strips on a piece of paper, airbrushed it one way then rotate the template 90 degrees and airbrush the cross strips. There's a pic of the template in my blog - http://trishcupcake.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/missy-giraffe.html

I love your tutorial. I look forward to more tutes from you especially more 3D cakes please. I've made a few 3D cakes including topsy turvy ones but this giraffe cake is my cleanest work so far coz of your technique on applying the fondant. The cake is also very sturdy and stable coz I made the structure just like in your tute. Craftsy was SO timely in uploading your tute coz I've been mulling over how to make a giraffe cake stable at the neck portion. I had visions of the head rolling off! Then Craftsy loaded your tute the night before I was scheduled to make the cake!!

Thanks Trish, I'm glad you got so much out of the class! Would love it if you would take a minute to review the class and share with other Craftsy peeps what you learned in the class. Keep on caking!
