3 tier black and white wedding cake

Instructions

I used some skills learned from the advanced fondant techniques course

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Other

Materials

Sponge cakes, marzipan, fondant icing, edible pearls and flower paste. Various flower cutters.

What was your inspiration?

The theme for the wedding was black and white so I added fantasy flowers to finish the cake off.

What are you most proud of?

I think the stripy flowers, they are very distinctive . I have never used such a strong colour with white before so was a little concerned but it turned out really well. I tried to make it look interesting from all angles.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be careful not to get any black on the white icing or visa versa. Always clear away one colour before using another and make sure all traces of the previous colour are removed. Make up your flowers in advance which saves time on the day of decorating.

what techniques did you use to ensure the stability of the cake? I have not managed to figure that out yet for off centered cakes!
