What materials did you use? Used 100% cotton fat quarters and yardage. I used a cotton bed sheet for the backing so that I would not have to piece it.

I wanted the quilt a little larger and didn't like the look of a double row of half square triangles. So I used the idea from someone else's quilt and made a checkered border to expand the quilt to the size I wanted.

Can you explain what you mean when you say, "used cotton bed sheet for backing so that I would not have to piece it." Love your checkerboard border.

I used a flat sheet made for a double bed (81x96 inches) instead of quilting fabric. Quilting fabric is only 45 inches wide, So I would have to piece two 45 inch sections together to get the width I needed. Using the double size bed sheet, I did not have to piece the backing.
