Traditional log cabin

Instructions

Fons & Porter 'Quilters Complete Guide" revised edition 2009 p. 118-120

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

scraps from prior quilts, remnants & fat 1/4s

What was your inspiration?

Trying new techniques. Doing Craftsy BOM & also Fons & Porter 'bible' to learn different blocks. We'll be doing 'Wonky Log Cabin' later in the BOM, so wanted to do a traditional one 1st.

What are you most proud of?

Using 4 light & 4 dark fabrics, I had to repeat them to get 8 of each. I managed to keep each strip oriented perpendicular to its match in the block and keep the same ones from touching each other.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

16 different fabrics (as the instructions recommend) would be easier than using 8 & repeating.
