What was your inspiration?

To get this block finished

What are you most proud of?

That it actually worked out

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go really slowly, make sure you follow the numbers of each segment and don't cut fabric too big or too small. I wasted a lot of fabric doing this block but I imagine with practice you would use less. Make sure you use a very scant 1/4 inch seam in joining these blocks as there is no margin for error.

I haven't been back to the class to see discussion but it sounds like this block could be a bigger challenge. Great job here. What was your finished size and what adjustments did you make.

Hi LinRupp - I just scraped 12 1/2 inches because I used really small seams I would say they were closer to just ove 1/8 inch. My problem from the beginning has been that I started using normal 1/4 inch seams till I hear Amy saying scant 1/4 so I have had to square all my blocks to 12 1/4 inch to make them all the same. That was the only adjustment - when I was joining the top 2 blocks, ditto the bottom, then the two rows I was very careful that the seam was very small.

Beautiful, Beth. I am really reluctant making this block after the other one being too big, I really have to make the pattern 96% smaller like another person said... so this one is just as big as necessary. I'll be careful thanks for mentioning it.

Good luck Sylvie - this is the one I had the most trouble with, unpicked several times, I found using Amy's template worked okay but it was only when joining I measured and realised I needed very small seams after the First October blocks were very large. I look forward to seeing your block.
