Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: Fondant, gumpaste, unbreakable gel and gel colors.

What are you most proud of? My determination to make every aspect of the cake edible, the strings and sheet music included. Also the fact that the tuning pegs actually work for tightening the strings.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Stay focus on one detail at a time, understanding this is one small detail that will affect the outcome of the final design. Trying to have fun and enjoy your design and execution process. If you get frustrated, as I did on my third attempt to make the neck, just take a break before trying again.

GREAT JOB!....can you explain what "UNBREAKABLE GEL" is....I've never heard of it ,did you use steam to make it shine? :)

Thanks, did you get my reply about the unbreakable gel?

Thank you so much! Unbreakable gel is a type of gum, comes in a powder form like tylose. You mix it with water and let it sit, you can then pipe it out to make tons of things. Butterflies, cat whiskers, fairy wings...etc. For the shine I used confectioner's glaze. You can find both at some online stores.
