Instructions
I found the instructions for creating a stone set in a silver clay pendant in a really good book about metal clay. Well worth a read for beginners. I just followed the basic frame work for the pendant, then altered the detailing for my own piece. The is The Art of Metal Clay by Sherri Haab. The chapter that these instructions can be found in is called Making Bezels for Delicate Stones.Category: Jewelry
Type of item: Accessory
For: Women
Style: Romantic, Victorian / Steampunk
Materials
A chalcedony druzy stone, silver clay to form the setting for the stone, fine silver bezel, scale agate, silver bead caps and clasp from Thailand and sterling silver wire and rolo chain
What was your inspiration?
Jewelry from the Art Nouveau movement
What are you most proud of?
The pendant in this piece was my first stone setting, so I was a bit nervous. It was also a bit of an experiment using silver clay for the base which made it some what tricky because of having to compensate for the clay shrinking when its fired. Overall it turned out better than I'd hoped and I look forward to doing more pendants like this one. :)
