Basic Skills Necessary:

  • basic sewing machine skills needed. Basic hand sewing.

Pattern Description:

The same basic skills and similar shapes will allow you to create three cuddly toys. Add some feet, change the wings and create your own chubby bird.
Written as three separate patterns so there is no jumping back and forth between instructions, the patterns have lots of clear photos to guide you through the construction.
The last photo shows examples of the toys made by children in my beginners class.(kids aged 9-13)

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Owl is 11 inches high and Duck and penguin are approx 10 inches high

Materials:

  • For Owl:
  • 12 inch polar fleece or a fat quarter of a wool or woollen blend fabric (30cm)
  • 8 1/2 inch square of felt for the tummy and wings (22cm)
  • Scraps of felt for the eyes and beak
  • 1 inch (24mm) Safety eyes
  • Hobbyfill or stuffing of your choice
  • For Penguin:
  • 12 inch polar fleece or a fat quarter of a wool or woollen blend fabric (30cm)
  • 8 inch square felt for tummy & eyes (20cm)
  • 3/4 inch Safety eyes (18mm)
  • 7 inch square felt for feet & beak (18cm)
  • Scrap of felt for lower beak
  • Hobbyfill or stuffing of your choice
  • For Duck:
  • 12 inch polar fleece or a fat quarter of a wool or woolen blend fabric (30cm)
  • 7 inch square of felt for tummy (18cm)
  • Scraps of felt for beak and eyes.
  • 3/4 inch Safety eyes (18mm)
  • 1 x 3 inch white fur fabric (3 x 8cm)
  • Hobbyfill or stuffing of your choice
